Find out more about the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS)

What is the EIS?

The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) is a scheme introduced by the government in 1994 to help small companies raise funds and grow. When you as a private investor invest in an EIS-qualifying company, you could receive very similar tax breaks.

What is the SEIS?

The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) is a scheme introduced by the government in 2012/13 following the success of – and to complement – the EIS.

In this case the idea is to help smaller and probably younger businesses raise funds and grow. As with EIS, when you invest in a SEIS-qualifying company you could get very significant tax breaks.
